Players to Watch: Ole Miss: RB Dexter McCluster; KR Jesse Grandy; QB Jevan Snead. LSU: CB Patrick Peterson, TB Keiland Williams, WR Brandon LaFell.
Keys to the Game: It has been an up-and-down season for Ole Miss fans, many of whom thought their Rebels could be a national title contender if everything fell correctly. LSU visits Oxford having lost two games this season -- but those came against the top two teams in the nation. With conference hopes long gone, LSU now looks at its two remaining games as an opportunity to define its season. With their upcoming game at Ole Miss and the regular-season finale at Arkansas, the Tigers can get to the 10-win level for the fourth time in coach Les Miles' five seasons if they win out. The Tigers are coming off an unimpressive 24-16 win over Louisiana Tech, a game where starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson was on the sidelines because of an ankle injury. Jefferson is expected back for the Ole Miss game.
Notes: Ole Miss and LSU will battle for the Magnolia Bowl trophy for the second time. That's a new twist on an old rivalry that dates to 1894. Ole Miss won the game last year, the first year in which the trophy was awarded, snapping a six-game losing streak to the Tigers ... Ole Miss hasn't beaten LSU in Oxford since it won 37-31 in overtime in 1998 ... Ole Miss is 27-26 against the Eastern Division since the SEC split into divisions in 1992 ... LSU hasn't allowed a touchdown in the first quarter of the last six games ... The win over Louisiana Tech gave coach Les Miles his 50th victory with the Tigers. -- Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved
