Per Fowler, Higgins, who the Bengals listed as questionable for the contest, is "good to go," with the report noting that the team was hopeful about the wideout's status this weekend, but wanted to make sure he felt good Sunday morning. Official confirmation of Higgins' Week 16 playing status is slated to arrive once inactives are posted ahead of Cincinnati's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

2h agoThe Eagles are expected to have Carter (shoulders) available for their Week 17 game next Sunday in Buffalo, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
While continuing to rehab from procedures on both of his shoulders, Carter was sidelined for a third straight game in Saturday's 29-18 win over the Commanders. The third-year defensive tackle didn't practice in any fashion leading up to Saturday's contest, but the Eagles apparently anticipate him making enough progress in his recovery program to put an end to his absence in Week 17. If Carter is able to make it back for the matchup with the Bills, Byron Young would likely move back into a smaller role along Philadelphia's defensive line.

Cleveland just acquired Bruihl from Toronto in exchange for cash considerations Wednesday, but it appears the Guardians no longer see the southpaw as part of the team's big-league bullpen after they signed fellow reliever Shawn Armstrong on Thursday. Bruihl may have to settle for a minor-league deal eventually, as he holds a career 4.72 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 69:32 K:BB over 89.2 innings across 94 games spanning parts of five campaigns.

Paul Blackburn NYY RPYankees' Paul Blackburn: Back with Yankees on one-year deal
11h agoThe Yankees signed Blackburn to a one-year, $2 million contract Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Blackburn began last season with the Mets but was released in mid-August. He was subsequently signed by the Yankees, with whom he made eight appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 5.28 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 15.1 innings. While those numbers aren't impressive, the bulk of the damage against him came in his team debut, when he gave up seven runs over 3.1 frames against Boston. Over his remaining seven appearances, Blackburn was much more effective, yielding just three runs (two earned) while posting a 14:2 K:BB across 12 innings. The veteran right-hander will likely work as a middle- and long-relief option next season with New York and also gives the team rotation depth given his history of working as a big-league starter.

The Tigers needed to make room on the 40-man roster for recent re-signee Kyle Finnegan, and Malloy has ended up being the cut. Malloy has struggled during his time in the majors so far, posting a .656 OPS with nine home runs, 38 RBI, 33 runs and one stolen base over 123 games spanning 357 plate appearances. He's also posted a 32.8 percent strikeout rate, though he has shown an ability to take a free pass with a 12.0 percent walk rate. That and his moderate power could make him a target for other MLB clubs.

Finger and oblique injuries kept Fairchild on the sidelines for the majority of the 2025 season, and he posted just a .606 OPS over 55 plate appearances with Atlanta when healthy. The 29-year-old outfielder will have a chance to win a job on Cleveland's bench during spring training, but he's likely destined to spend most of the upcoming season at Triple-A Columbus.

With Adrian Houser's signing becoming official Friday, Meckler will end up as the roster casualty necessary to make room on San Francisco's 40-man roster. The 25-year-old outfielder slashed .287/.390/.370 across 401 plate appearances at Triple-A Sacramento this past season, but he hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2023. His ability to play across the outfield and at second base will help his chances of being claimed by another club. However, his chances of contributing in the majors are slim.

Just two weeks after being claimed from San Francisco, Luciano will once again enter the waiver process following Pittsburgh's acquisitions of Brandon Lowe, Jake Mangum and Mason Montgomery on Friday. The 24-year-old Luciano -- once considered a top prospect in baseball -- could still be an attractive waiver target for other clubs despite his career .590 OPS in the big leagues.

McCain played a season-high 30 minutes during the win as the 76ers were without Paul George (rest), Joel Embiid (illness/knee) and Kelly Oubre (knee). The second-year guard also tied his season high in assists. He's now scored in double figures in back-to-back games after failing to do so in five consecutive contests. This year, McCain is averaging 7.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 18.6 minutes per game.

Barlow's 21 points were a season high and also tied his career high in the category, which he set in 2023. The two-way player has started in 15 of his 18 NBA appearances this season, and he's been particularly productive over his last four games. During the four-game stretch, Barlow is averaging 13.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals across 27.3 minutes.

Clarke suffered a calf injury during the first quarter of Saturday's contest and was deemed doubtful to return. The 29-year-old never retook the floor after departing. Memphis has a back-to-back set that begins Monday against Oklahoma City.

Although Smart has been effective during the Lakers' extensive injury issues, he was ice-cold in the lopsided defeat, recording his lowest point total since Nov. 18. Smart uncharacteristically converted only one of 12 shot attempts and made little contribution elsewhere. Smart was one of several players who failed to provide adequate support for LeBron James, who took it upon himself to keep the Lakers relevant in the matchup.

LaRavia stepped in to provide support for a snake-bit Lakers roster, and he turned in his first double-double of the season during his eighth appearance in the starting lineup. If LaRavia can keep up this level of production, the Lakers might be able to play even ball through the end of the year with easier matchups against the Kings and Grizzlies coming up next week.

James worked tirelessly to keep the Lakers in this game, but losing Luka Doncic (leg) at halftime was the final nail in the coffin. The team was already struggling without Austin Reaves (calf), Deandre Ayton (elbow) and Rui Hachimura (groin), and even a generational talent like James couldn't turn the game around. Doncic's injury doesn't appear to be serious, but the Lakers can take solace in the fact that James is more than capable of picking up the slack despite his age.

Both points came in the third period as the Senators broke open a 3-3 tie. Zetterlund is seeing a top-six role at even strength and has a spot on the second power-play unit, and the 26-year-old winger has taken advantage with six goals and nine points in the last 14 games, adding 33 shots on net, 30 hits and a plus-0 rating to his ledger.

Brady Tkachuk OTT LWSenators' Brady Tkachuk: Pots two tallies in win

The rugged winger opened the scoring early in the first period by having the puck deflect in off his leg while fighting with Artyom Levshunov for position in front of the net. Tkachuk's second tally late in the second period showed a little more skill, as he took a feed from Thomas Chabot and fired it home from the slot. Tkachuk has found the back of the net in three straight games, and in 11 contests since returning in late November from a broken thumb he's delivered five goals and 11 points with 53 shots on net, 30 hits and a minus-2 rating.

The star center had a point in every period, including a dazzling individual effort on his shortie in the second. Stutzle has five multi-point performances in the last six games, a red-hot stretch in which he's erupted for five goals and 13 points as he looks to get back to the 90-point plateau in a season for the first time since 2022-23.

10m agoEvans (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
The Canadiens recalled Sammy Blais from AHL Laval in a corresponding move. Evans suffered the injury in Saturday's 4-0 win over Pittsburgh. He will miss at least the next two games, starting with Sunday's rematch against the Penguins, after moving to injured reserve. Evans has five goals, 10 points, 34 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and 44 hits through 34 appearances this season.

With the score tied 3-3 to begin the third period, Perron got to work, wiring a couple shots from the shot past Arvid Soderblom in the first six minutes of the final frame. It was Perron's first multi-goal performance of the season, and while the veteran winger has only seven goals in 37 games on the season, five of them have come in the last 11 contests.

The 23-year-old netminder gave up three goals on 13 shots in the second period to level the game at 3-3, but Ottawa roared back with three of their own in the third. The win was Merilainen's first since Nov. 13, snapping a four-start losing streak, and on the season he's managed a 4-5-0 record in nine outings with a shaky 3.40 GAA and .872 save percentage.
