Travis Benjamin bided his time in Cleveland, made the most of his opportunities over four seasons and caught passes from nine different quarterbacks.

He'll have more stability in San Diego with Philip Rivers.

It's all good news for Fantasy owners as Benjamin inks a deal with the Chargers. We're talking about one of the league's fastest receivers who was 34 yards shy of 1,000 yards in 2015 joining an offense with some already good talent around him.

At the very least, Benjamin will replace Malcom Floyd as the deep-speed threat. Floyd never had a 1,000-yard season (or even a 900-yard season) and he never had more than six touchdowns in a campaign, so it won't take too much for Benjamin to outperform him.

But at the very most, Benjamin will take advantage of slow secondaries and Rivers' arm and put up some career-best numbers. There's real potential for it given the Chargers schedule. Aside from tough games against the Broncos and Chiefs, they have two against the Raiders secondary along with games against the AFC South and NFC South plus Miami and Benjamin's old team, Cleveland.

By the way, Benjamin caught nine of 13 targets for 117 yards against the Broncos last season.

I'm excited about Benjamin's upside and don't think there's much downside. He's a terrific receiver to snag in Round 9 or 10 and speculate on.

His presence will also help Keenan Allen a lot. Allen, who was on his way to a great season last year, should crush it on shorter routes against single coverage or softer zone coverage with Benjamin blazing downfield opposite him. In 2015, Allen averaged 11.1 targets per game and caught 75.3 percent of them! Just imagine the damage he'll do if Benjamin forces defenders to cover the deep field.

With 100-catch, 1,100-yard potential, Allen is a solid No. 2 receiver worth a Round 5 pick in standard leagues and a Round 3 pick in full-point PPR.

The move doesn't do much to enhance Antonio Gates (who is still good enough to fit in as a starting Fantasy option). It's not like Benjamin will pull away lots of the red-zone targets Gates should get.

As for Rivers, it only enhances his value to have someone like Benjamin in the fold, particularly after he completed just eight passes for 40-plus yards last season. Benjamin is a legit deep threat who can separate from cornerbacks and safeties. What's not to like?

Given the schedule ahead for the Chargers, Rivers shouldn't be overlooked. He's a fantastic quarterback to wait for on Draft Day. He's in my Top 12 (full disclosure: I am a huge Philip Rivers fan). Pick No. 100 is a great target for him in non-PPR.
