Mariners' Happ limited due to rain, Farquhar tagged with loss
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Mariners pitcher J.A. Happ was only able to pitch two innings during Thursday afternoon's 5-4 loss against the Orioles due to rain.

A two-hour delay ended Happ's day on the mound and forced the Mariners to go through six pitchers. However, Happ may have been pulled anyway because in those two innings he allowed four earned runs on four hits. He struck out three batters and walked two others.

Happ now has a 3.61 ERA for the season. This performance came after two consecutive games where he only allowed one earned run in each.

With the game tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Danny Farquhar entered the game and surrendered an RBI single to J.J. Hardy. This would prove to be Baltimore's winning run for the game. Farquhar is now 0-3 with a 5.48 ERA this season.

For Happ, his next start is projected for May 26 against the Rays.

Happ returns to the mound for his next start set for Thursday in Baltimore.

Mariners pitcher J.A. Happ strikes out eight in win Saturday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Mariners pitcher J.A. Happ allowed one run on four hits in five innings of work in Seattle's 7-2 win over the Athletics on Saturday.

Happ cruised through the first four innings, striking out six. His only issue came in the fifth when he walked back-to-back hitters before surrendering an RBI single to Billy Butler. Happ finished off his last inning of work with a strikeout of Mark Canha.

Happ, now 3-1, lowered his ERA to 3.29 in 38 1/3 innings of work. He will look to keep rolling Friday against the Red Sox.

Mariners' J.A. Happ rocked for six runs in no-decision Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Mariners pitcher J.A. Happ wasn't a factor in the decision Sunday after giving up six earned runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings while striking out six in his team's 7-6 defeat against the Astros.

Happ served up a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to fall behind early, then followed with a two-run homer in the third. After a fourth-inning RBI single pushed the Astros' lead to 6-1, the Mariners starter looked like he would take a loss Sunday, but his offense was able to rally and tie the game in the seventh.

Happ owns a 3.51 ERA and 24:6 K:BB ratio in 33 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the A's Saturday in Houston.

Mariners starting pitcher J.A. Happ pitches into seven inning for win
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

Mariners starting pitcher J.A. Happ (2-1) allowed one run on six hits and struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings to beat the Rangers on Tuesday.

Happ walked one batter in the game and has now issued just three free passes in 27 1/3 innings this season.

"He kept them off balance all night, really commanded his fastball and curveball," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "His velocity last year was right up there with all the top hard-throwing lefties. I don't think he had his best velocity fastball tonight, but certainly had real good command."

Happ's next scheduled start is set for Sunday in Houston.
