by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Mets infielder Daniel Murphy is back at second base Monday against the Braves.

Daniel Murphy to serve as primary first baseman
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy will be the club's primary first baseman while Ike Davis is in the minors.

Murphy has played first base for the team in the past, but not this season. The move will allow the club to use Jordany Valdespin as their primary starter at second. Murphy's move to first is considered temporary, as Davis is expected to fill the role when he returns from his stint in the minors.

Murphy is hitting .288/.325/.442 in 233 at-bats.
