| Doumit stays on the bench: Minnesota catcher Ryan Doumit was held out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against Detroit due to a troublesome calf injury. Doumit sat Thursday against the White Sox after missing four straight games last week with soreness in his right calf. He is listed as day to day. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire told FoxSportsNorth.com before the game that Doumit would be doing some catching in the bullpen during the game, as he prepares to get back behind the plate. | Doumit has been able to avoid a trip to the disabled list and is hoping to be able to keep playing through the injury. The 31-year-old slugger has moved past an ankle injury that limited him to 77 games last season and already drilled five homers and 24 RBI. Fantasy owners should consider him a mid-range option in deeper formats when active as he carries eligibility at a couple positions. (Updated 05/25/2012). |
