  • Murphy hits inside-the-park HR: Rangers outfielder David Murphy hit his first inside-the-park home run during Saturday night's contest against the Astros. Murphy ripped a shot into right field in the third inning that went all the way to the wall in between Justin Maxwell and Jordan Schafer, who both dove for the ball. "I don't hit many of those, so I couldn't tell ya," said Murphy when asked when was the last time he hit one outside of the majors. "I saw both guys dive and after I saw it got past them, I was probably halfway between first and second and I knew I had a chance. I started running as fast as I could and I probably put it in overdrive a little too quickly because I ran out of gas in the end."

    Fantasy Analysis
Murphy's inside-the-park job was his fourth home run of the year and provided most of Texas' offense on Saturday night. The 30-year-old continues to see fairly regular starts in the outfield for the Rangers, but he does lose some starts to Josh Hamilton on the days manager Ron Washington wants to start Craig Gentry in center field. Still, Murphy's decent pop and ability to hit for average continue to give him value in deeper mixed and AL-only formats. Continue to view him as such heading into Week 8 (May 21-27).

Some catchers have been bitten by the injury bug in recent days, leaving some owners scrambling. Our Scott White shares some recommendations and helps set your lineups for Week 8 in his Hit Parade.
May 20, 2012: Rangers' Lewis wins on mound, at plate
Colby Lewis allowed four hits in eight-plus innings and drove in two runs, and the Texas Rangers took a five-run lead in the first inning before coasting to a 6-1 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday.
May 10, 2012: 3 to Watch: The Yu against C.J. edition
The Rangers, true to form, won't say that they want to beat ex-teammate C.J. Wilson any more than they would any other pitcher. Fine. They don't need to say it. Everyone knows it, and that's why Wilson vs. Yu Darvish on Friday night highlights this edition of 3 to Watch.
May 10, 2012: Orioles start with three straight homers to beat Rangers in Game 1 of DH
The Orioles became the first AL team to open a game with three straight home runs, and Baltimore added two more long balls against Colby Lewis en route to a 6-5 victory over the Texas Rangers in a doubleheader opener Thursday.
May 9, 2012: On this night, Hamilton left no doubt
Josh Hamilton's amazing four-homer game Tuesday night in Baltimore reminds us of his best-in-baseball talent. On nights like this, Hamilton looks like he's worth every cent he would ask for, and it's hard to imagine the Rangers (or any other team) disagreeing.
