Mitchell ends up on IR: The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed goalie Vesa Toskala and forward John Mitchell on injured reserve and recalled goalie Joey MacDonald and forward Christian Hanson on Tuesday. Jonas Gustavsson is expected to resume the starting duties for Toronto with Toskala sidelined.

Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell suffered a knee injury in Monday night's 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders. Mitchell has no goals and two assists in his last seven games after scoring in two consecutive contests in early November. Mitchell has played some on the team's top line in 2009-10, but he is not going to be an offensive leader in Toronto. Mitchell has low-end Fantasy appeal for the deepest of formats when healthy.
