Rio Olympics 2016: U.S. 4x100-meter relay team makes final in re-run of heat
After a baton issue earlier in the day, Team USA is heading to Friday's final
An eventful morning for the U.S. women's 4x100-meter relay team left it with a solo run Thursday night to qualify for Friday's final.
Allyson Felix was attempting to hand the baton to English Gardner in the second leg of the competition Thursday morning, but was interfered with by a Brazilian runner, leading to the baton hitting the ground. However, because Team USA still completed the race, it was allowed to protest the result.
Jury of Appeals decided Felix was obstructed. USA relay will re-run alone at 8 pm local time tonight. Have to top 42.70 to reach final.
