What to Know

The South Carolina Gamecocks are 1-7 against the #24 Alabama Crimson Tide since January of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Saturday. USC and the Crimson Tide will face off in an SEC battle at 6 p.m. ET at Coleman Coliseum. These two teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs typically have all the answers at home, but on Wednesday the Gamecocks proved too difficult a challenge. USC was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bulldogs, winning 66-56. USC's guard Jermaine Couisnard filled up the stat sheet, picking up 22 points.

Meanwhile, Bama sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 74-72 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Tuesday. Four players on Bama scored in the double digits: guard Jahvon Quinerly (19), forward Noah Gurley (11), guard Keon Ellis (10), and guard JD Davison (10).

The Gamecocks are the clear underdogs, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a five-game streak of ATS wins.

The wins brought USC up to 18-10 and the Crimson Tide to 18-10. Two numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: USC enters the game with five blocked shots per game on average, good for 20th best in college basketball. But Bama is even better: they come into the contest boasting the 16th most blocked shots per game in college basketball at 5.2. Points in the paint might be hard to come by.
