What to Know

The East Carolina Pirates are 1-7 against the Cincinnati Bearcats since February of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Wednesday. East Carolina and Cincinnati will face off in an American Athletic battle at 7 p.m. ET at Fifth Third Arena. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It was close but no cigar for the Pirates as they fell 78-75 to the Temple Owls this past Saturday. East Carolina's loss came about despite a quality game from guard Tremont Robinson-White, who had 14 points.

Meanwhile, Cincinnati came up short against the Memphis Tigers on Sunday, falling 87-80. Despite the defeat, Cincinnati had strong showings from guard Jeremiah Davenport, who shot 7-for-10 from downtown and finished with 21 points and six boards, and guard Mika Adams-Woods, who had 15 points and six assists in addition to five rebounds.

East Carolina have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 10.50 point spread they are up against. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.

The Pirates are now 10-4 while the Bearcats sit at 11-5. East Carolina doesn't typically stay down for long -- they're 3-0 after losses this season -- so Cincinnati (3-1 after losses) won't have an easy go of it.
