No. 5 overall recruit Diamond Stone commits to Maryland
One of the top recruits in the nation announced his college choice. Diamond Stone will play for the University of Maryland.
Center Diamond Stone announced that he will play college basketball for Maryland.
The 5-star center is ranked number five overall in the 247 Sports Composite rankings and is the rated second among centers.
The 6-10, 246-pounder from Milwaukee's Dominican High is a McDonald's All American. He made the announcement on Twitter.
Stone chose the Terrapins from a final four that also included Wisconsin, UConn and Oklahoma State. He had earlier eliminated Duke, Kentucky and 13 other schools that had offered him a scholarship.
"Maryland's going to have a good team next year and we like coach Turgeon. He's a good guy," Stone's father Bob Stone told 247Sports.com. "It's a good situation. They could have a very good team next year and I know he likes the players there."
