New Georgetown commitment Reggie Cameron is a lights-out 3-point shooter. (Nike)

Reggie Cameron isn’t the best athlete or the most explosive scorer. What Cameron is, though, is a skilled forward who can knock down shots from behind the arc. And he needed a school that fit that skill set.

Georgetown does – and Cameron committed to the Hoyas on Wednesday morning.

Cameron, a 6-foot-7 prospect from Hudson Catholic (N.J.), is ranked No. 17 among small forwards in the class of 2013. He finished just outside the top 100, but his fit is perfect for Georgetown. The Hoyas love to spread the floor and force defenders out of their comfort zone. Cameron will do just that, as he shot better than 50 percent from behind the arc during the EYBL season. He made 58 3-pointers in 19 games, averaging 15.6 points.

Michigan was also in the mix for Cameron, along with North Carolina State, Miami (Fl.), Virginia and others.

South Carolina nabs post player

Desmond Ringer announced on Twitter that he was heading to South Carolina. Mercer was also involved for the 6-foot-9 big man, while Vanderbilt and other SEC schools showed interest. He has shown flashes of his ability but needs to bring effort on a consistent basis. When Ringer plays hard, he can be very effective on the inside.
