What to Know
The #4 Purdue Boilermakers are 8-0 against the Northwestern Wildcats since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success Sunday. Purdue and Northwestern will face off in a Big Ten battle at 1 p.m. ET at Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers are the favorites here -- although they were the favorites in their last matchup, too, so the odds might count for a little less.
Purdue was close but no cigar this past Thursday as they fell 68-65 to the Indiana Hoosiers. Guard Sasha Stefanovic had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only seven points on 3-for-10 shooting in his 34 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, Northwestern was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last week as they fell 82-76 to the Wisconsin Badgers. A silver lining for Northwestern was the play of guard Chase Audige, who had 23 points.
This next contest looks promising for the Boilermakers, who are favored by a full 12.5 points. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with Purdue, who are 9-9 against the spread.
Purdue is now 15-3 while Northwestern sits at 9-7. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Purdue is 14th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 10.5 on average. To make matters even worse for Purdue, the Wildcats rank fifth in college basketball when it comes to turnovers per game, with only nine on average. Maybe that strength will give Northwestern the oomph they need to beat the odds.
