Virginia has 93 wins over the last three years. This team, led by ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Malcolm Brogdon and stellar forward Anthony Gill, had everything break their way with Michigan State's early loss and a ridiculously strong start in the Sweet 16 win against Iowa State. 

Holding a double-digit lead in the second half against Syracuse, it looked like it would only need a classic second half of Virginia's defense and ball-control offense to earn a spot in the program's first Final Four since 1984. But Syracuse got a couple of quick points thanks to pressure defense and Malachi Richardson heated up with 21 of his game-high 23 points in the second half of the stunning 68-62 win against No. 1-seed Virginia. 

The combination of elation for Syracuse, the first No. 10-seed to make the Final Four, and devastation for Virginia resulted in a brutal set of reaction memes from Twitter. 

Virginia always gets to rep Thomas Jefferson. That was unfortunate for TJ, especially with how similar it sounds to MJ. 

The UVA bench got headlines for becoming the human version of the shrug emoji earlier in the game. Now Shruggy meets Crying MJ.
