Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon sued by female victim over 2014 alleged assault
Mixon pled not guilty and has only served a one-year football suspension plus probation

Talented Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon's legal issues are not going away as it pertains to the 2014 incident in which Mixon was charged with hitting a female student in the face.
Mixon was suspended for the entire 2014 season by the school, served one year of probation, performed community service and underwent counseling as part of his plea deal for the misdemeanor assault charge. Now the victim in that incident has filed a complaint against Mixon in U.S. District Court seeking unspecified damages.
The complaint, filed Friday, alleges negligence, willful and wanton misconduct and intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to the Associated Press.
Mixon, who showed no remorse last December for the incident, in some ways is having his public reputation -- and career -- saved by the holding back of a video of the alleged assault that Oklahoma media members have been legally fighting to have released by the state.
At Big 12 Media Days last week in Dallas, OU coach Bob Stoops again defended the school's handling of Mixon's case when pressed by questions regarding the national discussion of domestic violence.
"Joe Mixon was punished. We've been through all this. He's met high standards, and continues to have to meet high standards to remain a part of the football team," Stoops said. "So everybody has different measures of what's enough punishment and what is not. In the end, we felt, myself along with our administration, that this was the right punishment and he's met all the conditions we put in front of him and he was removed for a full season."
Mixon totaled 753 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 2015. Oklahoma has not offered an official comment on the lawsuit at this time.
