Matthews was waived by the Steelers on Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The 25-year-old joined Pittsburgh's practice squad in December and subsequently signed a reserve/future contract after the end of the regular season. Matthews hasn't seen NFL action since going undrafted out of Auburn in 2018.
