Murphy exercised the out in his contract and became a free agent Monday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Murphy was obviously not satisfied playing at the minor league level for the Twins and is now eligible to sign with another team. Murphy has a solid MLB track record (career .274 BA and .333 OBP), and at only 34 years old, one has to think he still has a couple good seasons left in the tank. It likely won't be long before the outfielder signs with another MLB team and finds his way into its lineup.
