Murphy has no plans to retire at this time and hopes to join a major league team in the near future, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Murphy is coming off a decent spring with the Red Sox, slashing .273/.286/.364 with three RBI but he ultimately did not make the Opening Day roster. He opted out of his deal and now the 34-year-old outfielder is seeking out a roster spot on another team. Murphy could be a solid fit for teams looking for outfield depth or an extra left-handed bat.
