Rollins started at second base in Thursday's split-squad game against the White Sox, and added position flexibility should help his case for making the 25-man roster, CSN Bay Area reports.

Rollins hadn't manned the keystone in 15 years, so the veteran shortstop is working on getting comfortable at the position in order to increase his value as a utility infielder. Manager Bruce Bochy said that the 38-year-old looked "pretty good" defensively playing second base. Rollins will compete with Kelby Tomlinson, Gordon Beckham, Jae-Gyun Hwang and Orlando Calixte for the utility infield spot on the 25-man roster.
