Guardians' Jake Jewell: Contract selected by Guardians

Jewell's contract was selected by Cleveland on Saturday.

Jewell joined the Guardians on a minor-league deal in March and will get his chance with the big-league club after cruising to a 2.63 ERA in 41 innings of relief for Triple-A Columbus. He hasn't had nearly that same level of success in 38.1 career major-league innings, struggling to a 7.75 ERA, though his 41.9 percent HR/FB rate suggests that he's been the victim of some bad luck.
