Mateo has signed a one-year contract extension with the Hanshin Tigers, the Japan Times reports.
Mateo had 20 saves last year for Hashin with a 1.80 ERA and 9.2 K/9. It seems unlikely he'll return to MLB as he'll be 32 next season. He last pitched in MLB for the Padres in 2015.
