Johnson (shoulder) was outrighted to Triple-A Durham on Friday, radio broadcaster Steve Carney reports.
Johnson threw just 4.1 major-league innings this season but recorded a 3.32 ERA in 21.2 frames for Triple-A Columbus prior to being acquired from Cleveland. He strained his shoulder in August, leaving his readiness for next season in some doubt.
