Kendrick's impending addition to the roster suggests he'll be around for a while, Jen McCaffrey of MassLive.com reports. He is scheduled to start in place of the injured Steven Wright (knee) on Thursday.
Since Kendrick is on a minor-league deal, he cannot be sent back to Triple-A Pawtucket once added to the major-league roster without being designated for assignment and subjected to the waiver process. He would likely get claimed by another team. The Red Sox don't want to waste Kendrick for a one-start fill-in assignment -- the organization has other options already on the 40-man roster if it felt Wright would miss a single start -- so expect multiple starts for Kendrick.
