Britton threw a scoreless third of an inning Tuesday during his first appearance in the minors this season.

The 26-year-old gave up two earned runs in 3.2 innings during spring training, and was sent to Triple-A Toledo to start the season. Britton has not pitched in the majors since 2014 with the Red Sox where he threw 6.2 scoreless innings in seven appearances. He spent last season with the Cubs organization at Triple-A Iowa, working 83.1 innings with a 5.08 ERA. Britton has struggled during his career in the minors and will most likely spend all of 2016 in Toledo.
