Elton Brand: Gets formally waived Sunday

Brand was formally waived by the 76ers on Saturday, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

It's just a procedural move, as Brand had announced Thursday that he would retire from professional basketball. Brand could end up sticking with the organization in a front-office position, but his departure leaves the 76ers with 19 players heading into Monday's deadline to trim the roster to 15 men.
