49ers' Ian Williams: Returning to 49ers

Williams inked a five-year contract with the 49ers on Wednesday, Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

On the heels of the 26-year-old's best campaign of his career, the club was able to secure the services of the 305-pound defensive lineman just before the start of free agency. He finished 2015 having played all 16 games, recording 65 tackles (45 solo), a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, a great output for a player who struggled with injuries early in his career. The totals exceeded his other three seasons combined, and put him in contention for an IDP slot in some leagues. He should fill a similar role with the 49ers in 2016, likely placing himself on the IDP radar once again.
