49ers' Samuel Womack: Lands on IR

The 49ers placed Womack (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Womack is expected to be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks with an MCL injury. His absence is not expected to impact the 49ers' defense, as he was primarily a depth option. He will now focus on his recovery going forward.
