Smith-Pelly will not be receiving a qualifying offer from the Devils, making him a free agent, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Smith-Pelly will ultimately spend just one abbreviated season playing for the Devils after being traded from the Canucks in February. During those 18 total outings, the 24-year-old compiled eight goals and five assists. He will officially become a free agent on July 1.
