Werner signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flames on Wednesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Werner had a 2.55 GAA, a .908 save percentage and a 6-4-1 record in 11 games with AHL Colorado last year, although he spent the bulk of the season on the Avalanche's taxi squad. The Swede will join the Flames' goalie pipeline, and at 24 years old, it's possible he could compete with Daniel Vladar for the backup role behind Jacob Markstrom this year.
