Predators' Fedor Svechkov: Can't-fail pivot goes 19th at draft

Svechkov was drafted 19th overall by the Predators at the 2021 NHL Draft on Friday.

Svechkov is a solid middle-six pivot with nice skills across the board. He's a good playmaker, uses his body well and plays responsible defense. And he's done it against pros already in the VHL. In fact, Svechkov plays two-way hockey like a guy with five to seven pro seasons under his belt. His offensive production will likely end up suppressed at the NHL level simply because of his talents on the other side of the puck. Like a Jordan Staal type. But there are plenty of fantasy leagues where guys like Svechkov will contribute. He's pretty much a no-fail guy for the Preds.
