Kyle Bush gets waiver that could lead to Chase eligibility
Busch will need to average better than 16th-place finish the rest of the way to qualify.

NASCAR has announced that driver Kyle Busch has been given a waiver that will qualify him for the 2015 Chase for the Sprint Cup. He must win a race and crack the top 30 in the point standings to earn a spot among 16 drivers.
"On behalf of everyone at NASCAR, it's great to have Kyle Busch back racing," said Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer. “Our decision to grant Kyle a waiver that allows him to continue running for a championship is one we discussed extensively. The spirit of the rule never was designed to punish drivers who are unable to compete due to extenuating circumstances such as recovering from a racing accident.
"We wish Kyle the best of luck in the balance of the season, and look forward to his return to the car this week for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway."
Busch, who missed the first 11 races of the season due to injury, must average 28.2 points per race, which is just better than 16th place, for the remaining 15 regular-season races to be eligible. He has averaged a 15.5-place finish in all but his rookie season and last season.
He has raced in the Chase in seven of his 10 years on the circuit.
