UFC 194: Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo by the numbers
Fight sports are all about the numbers. Whether it's money or fight statistics, Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo both have some impressive numbers heading into UFC 194.
To the guys in suits at UFC HQ, Conor McGregor is arriving just in time.
Four weeks after the enterprise's flagship persona was punched and kicked to smithereens in Australia, the unapologetic, abrasive Irishman can take his place atop the octagonal mountain with an impressive performance in a featherweight (145 pounds) title bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Of course, his foe in the UFC 194 main event -- Brazilian champion Jose Aldo -- is hardly a pushover, and will enter the fray while occupying the top spot in the organization's pound-for-pound rankings and having not lost a match since 2005, back when McGregor was a Dublin-based plumbing apprentice.
McGregor is a favorite, albeit not nearly a prohibitive one, with a Wednesday morning line at the Caesars Palace sports book requiring a $120 outlay on him to generate a $100 profit. Meanwhile, it'll take a $100 wager on Aldo to return a $100 surplus.
The pay-per-view broadcast will begin Saturday at 10 p.m. and feature four bouts prior to the main event. As an appetizer, here are some numbers to ponder as fight night draws closer.
