The Pittsburgh Pirates can extend the franchise's best start to a season when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of a three-game series on Tuesday (6:35 p.m. ET) at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. After beating the Reds, 2-0, on Sunday, the Pirates (16-7) are off to the franchise's best start since its last division title in 1992, when they also went 16-7 through 23 games. Pittsburgh also enters Tuesday's game on a seven-game winning streak. Los Angeles is a slight -115 favorite in the latest MLB odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while Pittsburgh is a -105 underdog. The over/under for runs scored is 8.5.

The game is one of 15 on the MLB schedule for Tuesday. Elsewhere in the majors, the Yankees (+110) will try to avoid a three-game losing streak for the first time since August-September of last year, against the Twins at 7:40 p.m. ET, and the Rays look to improve to 15-0 at home this season, against the Astros (+170) at 6:40 p.m. ET. For Friday, the model has locked in three confident MLB best bets for games that begin at 6:35 p.m. ET or later. If you successfully parlay the picks, you'd be looking at a payout of 7-1. You can see the model's top MLB picks at SportsLine.

After simulating every game on Tuesday 10,000 times, the model is picking the New York Yankees (+110) to knock off Minnesota. The Yankees lost Monday's series opener, 6-1, but haven't lost a series to the Twins since 2018. Since then, New York has won six regular season series and split a four-game series against Minnesota earlier this season.

Lefty Nestor Cortes pitched well against the Twins the last time he faced them. On April 14, Nestor gave up just two runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking none in seven innings against Minnesota. He has not lost a start since Aug. 16 of last season. You can see who else to back here.
