Alfonso Soriano is calling it a career. The seven-time All-Star announced his retirement Tuesday, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

"I've lost the love and passion to play the game," Soriano said in a radio interview Tuesday in his native Dominican Republic, per ESPN. "Right now, my family is the most important thing."

Soriano ends his career ranked 50th on the home run list (412 homers). He spent 16 years in the majors, finishing with a career .270 average, .500 slugging percentage and .819 OPS in 1,975 games. He was the 2004 All-Star game MVP and was a four-time Silver Slugger winner (2002, 2004-06).

Soriano spent most of his career with the Yankees and Cubs, but also played for the Rangersand Nationals.

"Although I consider myself in great shape, my mind is not focused on baseball," Soriano said.
