The Angels recalled outfielder Brennan Boesch Tuesday and optioned pitcher Caleb Clay to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Boesch went 3 for 13 in seven April appearances with the major-league team but has since been stuck at Triple-A Salt Lake, where he has hit .326/.380/.625 with 22 home runs, 75 RBI and eight stolen bases in 331 at-bats. He's in the lineup Tuesday for the Angels, batting seventh and filling the designated hitter role.
Clay didn't see game action while with the Angels. He returns to a 3.78 ERA and 34:10 K:BB ratio in 52 1/3 innings.
