Cubs option RP Brian Schlitter to Triple-A

The Cubs have optioned right-hander Brian Schlitter to Triple-A Iowa prior to Tuesday's game, according to MLB.com. Schlitter has had a few stints with the Cubs this season, and has posted a 7.36 ERA over 7 1/3 innings of relief.

The move opens a 25-man roster spot for top-prospect Kyle Schwarber, who is being promoted on Tuesday.
