IMPORTANT: Dodgers fan Mary Hart reacts to walk-off balk victory
At first she doesn't know what to think, but when Mary Hart sees Kike Hernandez cross home plate, she's giving her boys a standing 'O.'
The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided a fourth-straight defeat Thursday night simply by waiting for the Texas Rangers to mess up fatally. It happened in the bottom of the ninth, when right-hander Keone Kela balked with Kike Hernandez on third base. And you know who else waited to see it happen? TV's Mary Hart!
Dodgers fans have a reputation for getting to the ballpark late and leaving early -- they say -- because of unbearable Los Angeles freeway traffic. Watch the full balk:
Hernandez said he was instructed by third base coach Lorenzo Bundy to try to fake out Kela. "I did, and he fell for it," Hernandez said. The walk-off victory was the sixth of the season for the Dodgers.
Swell. Mary Hart did not appear to be in attendance back in 2010, the previous time the Dodgers won via game-ending balk. But the Dodgers did give Hart her own bobblehead night in 2011:
