Marlins outfielder Juan Pierre says he will not retire following the 2013 season, the Miami Herald reports.
Pierre, 35, has struggled with Miami this season, as he owns just a .244/.286/.299 line in 76 games. He says he understands opportunities may not be there due to his lack of production, but Pierre is determined to play until the opportunities are gone.
"I’m not going to cry once I’m done playing," Pierre said. "They can come and take away my jersey right now, and I’ll be fine. I'll be OK with it either way. Looking back, I would have never thought I'd play one day in the big leagues, let alone 13 years. So I'm grateful for all the time I did it."
