The Mets could wait no longer for veteran starter Dillon Gee to find himself. How he finds himself designated for assignment.

Gee lost his rotation spot briefly only to start again Sunday - and that apparently was the last straw. He allowed eight runs on 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings to San Francisco as his ERA ballooned from an already-poor 4.50 to a disastrous 5.90.

The right-hander, who has given up 16 runs in his last 9 1/3 innings pitched, will be outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas if he goes unclaimed by another team.
