Padres place RP Marcos Mateo on DL, promote P Frank Garces

A neck strain has landed Padres reliever Marcos Mateo on the 15-day disabled list. The team has recalled left-hander Frank Garces from Triple-A El Paso to take his place.

Mateo allowed three runs on four hits in one inning in his last appearance. His ERA has risen from 3.27 to 5.19 over the last six games in which he pitched.
