Rangers third base prospect Joey Gallo is expected to miss about 10 games for Double-A Frisco while he recovers from surgery to remove the os trigonum bone from his left foot April 3, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Gallo is already walking without a boot on his foot, but he said the pain was pretty bad before having the surgery.
“Any time I put pressure on it it felt like someone was putting a knife in my heel,” Gallo said. “I couldn’t even walk. They said it was just an extra bone back there and I must’ve did something to jar it loose. After that you’ve got to get it injected or take it out. I decided to take it out.”
Gallo will be re-examined Friday.
