The Red Sox topped the Orioles 5-2 on Tuesday night (box score) behind a mostly dominant Chris Sale. The night got off to a feel-good start when the Fenway crowd gave a standing ovation to Adam Jones one night after the Baltimore outfielder was subjected to racist taunts in Boston.

Soon enough, though, O's third baseman Manny Machado and the Sox's recent penchant for throwing at him was once again the focus ... 

That's Sale throwing behind Machado. Both benches were warned. Machado later homered in the game and understandably took his time rounding the bases

Anyhow, Sale's purpose pitch is presumably in response to Dylan Bundy's plunking of Mookie Betts on Monday night ... 

When it comes to HBPs, people will always see what they want to see, and that subjectivity will inform whether or not you see any intent in that. After Tuesday night's tilt, Machado was unsparing in his assessments of the 2017 Red Sox and how they handle their business ... 

Pretty candid stuff, but Machado was even more candid a bit earlier (warning: his rant is laced with profanity, which has been bleeped out in the following video from CSNNE.com)  ... 

In case you've forgotten, this isn't the first time that the Sox and Machado have disagreed this season regarding baseball events. Mere days ago, Machado injured Dustin Pedroia on a hard slide into second base, and Boston reliever Matt Barnes responded by throwing at Machado's head, which is, you know, not cool. 

By way of reminder, these same two teams play again Wednesday and Thursday back at Fenway. Developing, people. Extremely developing ...
