The San Antonio Spurs will start Boris Diaw in the frontcourt instead of Tiago Splitter in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday, via Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. This was discussed as a possible adjustment before the series began and again approaching Game 2, as Diaw was plus-30 in the opening game. At this point, though, it's a mild surprise.

Diaw doesn't offer the same rim protection as Splitter, but he does make San Antonio a more versatile team. His passing and three-point shooting help the Spurs' guards, and he is able to hold his own on defense. Splitter was limited to just 19 minutes in Game 2.

Game 3 starts at 9 p.m. ET.
