Kelly Oubre Jr. is excited to return to Boston: 'People are going to be booing me'
Oubre Jr. will return to Boston for the first time since he shoved Olynyk
Kelly Oubre Jr. has served his one game suspension for shoving Kelly Olynyk after a high screen in Game 3. He and the Wizards will return to Boston with the series tied at 2-2 and a lot of tension between both sides. Some of that tension came to a head when Oubre, fed up with Olynyk's screens, sprinted down the court and shoved Olynyk to the ground.
Oubre is aware that he's not very well liked in Boston right now. He's expecting a hostile atmosphere with a lot of boos directed at him. Despite all of this, at 21 years old the only emotion he can respond with is excitement.
"A lot of people are going to be booing me tonight," Oubre said, beaming. "They know who I am, so it's definitely a blessing so we got to go out here and get this big win tonight."
For a young player like Oubre, this is what the playoffs are about. A tied series with one game that can swing it entirely the other direction. This is his first taste of true playoff basketball and it's hard to not see why he wouldn't get excited about getting to enter a hostile atmosphere. Let alone in a place as historic as Boston.
While Oubre might be excited he'll need to back up that talk with better play. Before his suspension, Oubre was a player Boston liked hiding Isaiah Thomas on in defensive sets. If Oubre can follow up the boos with the biggest performance of his young career then it will just make this exciting moment that much better for him.
