Mark Cuban on Thon Maker: 'For a 40-year old, he can still play'
The Mavs owner is even joking about rumors of Thon Maker's age
Right before the draft, there were rumors that prospect Thon Maker -- out of Australia via Canada -- may not be the 19 years old he claimed to be. He may be closer to 23 or 24 years old, which certainly would affect the level of potential executives around the league may believe he possesses. That didn't stop the Milwaukee Bucks from taking Maker at No. 10. And the Bucks' selection of Maker also didn't stop the jokes about Thon's age from happening.
During the Las Vegas Summer League broadcast of the Bucks taking on the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night, Mavs owner Mark Cuban joined the broadcast. When asked about Maker, Cuban joked, "For a 40-year old, he can still play."
So far in summer league, Maker has shot horribly for the Bucks. He's made 25 percent of his 3-pointers and he's lower than 40 percent from the field, overall. But he's averaging 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in 31.3 minutes over the four games. He's been incredibly active as he begins to learn what he can and can't do out there.
Cuban is right; that's not bad for a *40-year old.
