The final episodes of "The Last Dance" aired on Sunday and one major takeaway (and controversy) that came out of it surrounded pizza and the "Flu Game." The backstory involves Jordan missing out on dinner and attempting to get food on the outskirts of Salt Lake City the night before Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Jazz.

As the story goes, Jordan was with trainer Tim Grover and personal assistant George Koehler and was upset he wasn't consulted about dinner earlier. Hungry at 10:30 p.m., with the whole city shut down, they begin calling places for a pizza delivery.

"Five guys delivering one pizza, they're all trying to look in. I take the pizza. I pay them. I put this pizza down. I say, 'I've got a bad feeling about this pizza,'" Grover said.

Jordan then ate the entire pizza by himself, with no assistance. He kept the others in the hotel room from eating it in a gross, but effective, way, according to "The Last Dance" director Jason Hehir:

"When the pizza shows up Michael says everybody do not touch this pizza this is mine. You didn't wait for me don't touch this. So he spits on the pizza."

Hehir told Jalen Rose and David Jacoby on ESPN after the "Last Dance" finale aired that despite people not buying that no one else grabbed a slice, the spitting story made him believe MJ tackled the pizza himself.

In the documentary, Jordan explained that his famous "Flu Game" was not the flu at all, and he believes it was food poisoning from the pizza in question, something his trainer backs up. Stories that five people came to their hotel door to deliver the pizza were told, making many believe the pie was purposefully somehow spiked.

The "Flu Game" ("Food Poisoning Game?") ended in a Bulls victory, with Jordan scoring 38 points, including a game-winning 3-pointer, putting Chicago up three games to two.

"This is not the only time Michael would spit on food if he didn't want other people to eat it," the director added.

As Sports Illustrated points out, there is another story on record of MJ spitting on food that backs up Hehir's claim. According to a 2013 ESPN story, MJ spit on cinnamon rolls during a commercial shoot to make sure nobody else touched his favorite treat.
