Report: Chris Bosh will not fight this failed physical with the Heat
This leaves Bosh with very little leverage, and perhaps even fewer options
The Miami Heat announced on Friday that Chris Bosh has failed his physical (Things to Know) and there is no timetable set for his return to the court. It is looking like retirement could be a real possibility.
The reported issue of the failed physical is that he's had more blood clotting issues lately, which severely hinder the chances of him being able to return to an NBA court. For months, Bosh and the Heat have been at odds over his health situation with Bosh wanting to be cleared to play back during the playoffs and the franchise refusing to clear him with such a potentially severe condition.
Now that he's failed the physical, Bosh may finally be admitting what the Heat doctors have been telling him all along. On the Dan Le Batard Show on ESPN Radio Friday, Le Batard reached out to a source close to the Heat to get some type of information about what's next with this Bosh situation. According to Le Batard, Bosh is not going to fight this failed physical.
From The Le Batard Show (19:55 mark):
"I've been told Chris Bosh is not fighting it," Le Batard said on his radio show.
Considering how contentious the situation between the two sides had become, that appears to be pretty eye-opening that Bosh isn't going to fight this. Some may have suspected the Heat were trying to push him out for salary cap relief and that Bosh would continue to find a doctor who says he's safe to resume playing, but if he isn't fighting it then there is a huge level of acceptance on the reality of what's facing him right now.
It doesn't mean his career is necessarily over just yet, but it doesn't look good for him resuming it moving forward unless there is a big change in his health or the treatment of the condition.
