At 18 years old, Archie Goodwin was the youngest player taken in the 2013 NBA Draft. He was taken with the 29th pick of the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder, and later traded to the Golden State Warriors and then the Phoenix Suns. He's a big part of the rebuilding project going on in Phoenix as the Suns look to develop young talent and acquire ping-pong balls for the 2014 lottery. 

While Goodwin was a decorated Arkansas basketball prospect, he didn't exactly light up the scoreboard in his one season at the University of Kentucky. Because of this, and the thoughts that he was a raw, combo guard, Goodwin slipped in the draft and nearly slipped out of the first round completely. He won't forget that fact and if you're a team that passed on him, he plans on not letting you forget it either. He plans on giving "hell" to those teams that decided he wasn't for them. After a so-so freshman season on an underachieving University of Kentucky team ended with him sliding to No. 29 in the 2013 NBA Draft, Phoenix Suns guard Archie Goodwin has a simple message for the League:

“It would have been great to have been drafted where I thought I should have been,” Goodwin told SLAM during last week’s Panini photo shoot portion of the Rookie Transition Program. “Now every team that didn’t pick me, I’ve got to give them hell.”

“I know a lot of guys in this [Draft] class are not better than me,” said Goodwin. “I’m blessed to even be here, but to see how far I slid down—it was a surprise. Every game I go into, I’m showing every team that didn’t pick me that they made a mistake.”

Here are the teams that passed on Archie Goodwin:

Cleveland (twice), Orlando, Washington, Charlotte, New Orleans (traded pick), Sacramento, Detroit, Minnesota (twice), Portland, Oklahoma City (technically twice since they traded him), Dallas, Boston, Atlanta (twice), Milwaukee, Chicago, Brooklyn, Indiana, New York, the Clippers, Denver, and San Antonio. We can throw Golden State in there too considering they traded for him and then flipped the pick.

That's a lot of hell to be giving.

Goodwin impressed quite a few people at the Las Vegas Summer League, showing an improved jumper (although it still needs work) and an aggressive attack that coach Jeff Hornacek and the Suns would love to see from him this season and moving forward. The good news for Goodwin is he should have plenty of chances to prove his worth on this Suns team. They don't have anybody really set in stone in terms of rotation and they're going to want their young guys to prove they deserve playing time.
