WATCH: Kawhi Leonard with the vicious block on Kevin Durant
Blocking KD's jumper is nearly impossible. Of course, Kawhi Leonard is the best at guarding the impossible to guard.
The Thunder bested the Spurs 112-106 on Wednesday in their season opener, but Kawhi Leonard made a strong statement. Despite Russell Westbrook's crucial late bucket and 33 points, Leonard was the best player on the floor, scoring 32 points on 13-of-22 shooting, with eight rebounds, and two steals. He also had two blocks and was a complete terror on the defensive end, as the reigning Defensive Player of the Year usually is.
But one of those blocks was especially crazy, because it came on Kevin Durant, on his jumpshot which is typically well beyond anyone's human physical capacity since he's nearly 7-feet tall. Check this out.
Unbelievable. Durant still got up 22 points, but it took him 19 shots. Leonard outplayed him on both ends for most of the night, but it just wasn't enough. Still, a strong statement that Leonard may be ready to really join the names of the truly elite players in this league.
